The story of rising cricket star Jake Fraser-McGurk

There were multiple signs from a young age that Victorian born Jake Fraser-McGurk was a cricketer to watch but his performances in the IPL and BBL have seen him compared to cricket greats like David Warner.

IPL and BBL are the two main leagues in cricket apart from the ICC obviously and when you have a young gun who is good at both leagues – who thinks this kid might be a superstar? Jake Fraser-McGurk will be that superstar, having scored a 50 in his first IPL match. It took him a while to start in the BBL, but he was only 17 when he joined the BBL. Once in the IPL he scored 84 from just 27 balls and in the BBL he once scored 70 off 30. BBL great Chris Lynns’ highest score was 101 off 80 balls and he is 34. Fraser-McGurk added the cherry on top when he got 44 in his second ODI for Australia.

Fraser-McGurk was brought up in an athletic family. His mum was a netball player and his dad on the other hand was a semi professional tennis player. Fraser-McGurk and his sister both earned a yellow belt in karate and his brother would play cricket with his.

This is one of the reasons he is very sporty, and he can only get better being mentored by Glenn Maxwell.

All over the cricketing world people are talking about Fraser-McGurk because of how good he is, none of the fans matter though until cricketing greats such as Kerry O’Keefe, Ricky Ponting and Glenn Maxwell compare you with cricket superstars.

Legendary cricketers have been talking about how talented Fraser-McGurk is and how exciting his future is. They haven’t just talked about him, they have compared him with cricket superstars. Cricket Superstars like Ricky Ponting, Kerry O Keefe and Glenn Maxwell have all linked Fraser-McGurk to cricket superstar David Warner. Glenn Maxwell even saying this on X: “Easily the talented young batter in the country … his potential doesn’t really actively have a ceiling.”

Fraser-McGurk has had an amazing BBL and IPL season, he has had a sporty family raise him and he has had cricket superstars say how amazing he is. What a cricketer he can be – with just a little more work we will be watching him in the next ashes.
