Students from the Thomas Pattison School have paid a special visit to Madame Tussauds Sydney to celebrate International Day of Sign Languages.
As part of the September 23 celebration, students participated in a hands-on activity, creating wax hands in Auslan handshapes.
The school will keep the 20 handshapes made of wax and use them as educational tools for the children’s ongoing development in Australian Sign Language.
The visit included a guided tour of the attraction with Auslan interpreters, offering students the opportunity to learn interesting facts about a range of celebrities in Madame Tussauds Sydney.
The students loved surfing with Layne Beachley, riding a motorcycle with Shah Rukh Khan and coming face-to-face with all their favourite superheroes, including Superman and Batman.
“We’re thrilled to have welcomed the students from Thomas Pattison School on International Day of Sign Languages – this is an important day for us to celebrate,” said Madame Tussauds guest experience supervisor Benjamin Franklin. “It was a highlight to see the students engage with all the wax figures, including Dylan Alcott’s wheelchair tennis challenge and joining Harry Styles on stage.”
