Port Douglas State School returns to Schoolyard Shoutout with its 2024 whole of school Escape Room kicking off term two.

“Our students are so excited,” said 5/6W classroom teacher Kelda Wray.

Each lunchtime students search the school grounds for hidden keys that give them access to the Escape Room, which has a superhero theme this year.

“Students from all age groups, prep to six, work together to solve clues that eventually lead to the final key that will save (Monsters Inc. character) Mike Wazowski from his cage,” Ms Wray said.

The Escape Room is designed to help students develop skills in collaboration, creative thinking, problem-solving and social skills, as well as links to multiple curriculum areas.

“The excitement at lunch time is so amazing to witness, as students race around looking for their magic keys,” Ms Wray said.
